Dr. Dre bragged about his daughter getting into the University of Southern California with “no jail time” — in an apparent dig at the high-profile and celebrity and parents embroiled in the nationwide college admissions scam.
The 54-year-old hip hop legend posted an Instagram photo of himself and his daughter Saturday, in which she displayed an admissions packet from the elite college emblazoned with a “#IGotIntoUSC” sticker.
“My daughter got accepted into USC all on her own,” the music mogul wrote. “No jail time!!!”
Over 30 parents, including actresses Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman were charged this month in a widespread scheme in which their kids fraudulently gained admissions to some of the top schools in the country, including USC, by cheating on their admissions exams or as fake athletic recruits.
“Fuller House” star Loughlin and her husband Mossimo Giannulli allegedly paid $500,000 to plot mastermind William “Rick” Singer to get their two daughters into USC as competitive rowing recruits — though neither girl took part in the sport. Meanwhile, “Desperate Housewives” star Huffman is charged with paying $15,000 in hopes of upping her daughter’s SAT score.
Some users on social media pointed out that Dre, whose real name is Andre Young, in 2013 donated $70 million to USC with music industry entrepreneur Jimmy Iovine.
The huge gift was used to create the Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young Academy for Arts, Technology and the Business of Innovation, home to a four-year program for undergraduates at the school.
“Dr Dre donated a building / $70 million to USC and his daughter just got in. Do me a favor and stop the BS. Rich people will always have advantages…,” wrote @NYCars1.
“Dr. Dre bribing colleges the way it’s been done for centuries,” added another user.
