Viewers are three episodes into this live-action Star Wars series and things are already getting complicated for its lone gunfighter. Is this baby who Star Wars fans think he is? Will the Mandalorian turn it in for his bounty? Why does someone want to capture this young creature? Here’s what you might’ve missed from the third episode of the Disney+ exclusive series, entitled The Mandalorian.

The Mandalorian takes the child back to his buyer
This episode picks up right where the last one left off. The baby is awake and moving around in the ship. He manages to twist off a ball from one of the controls and the Mandalorian takes it from him before putting him back in his container.
They land on the planet and he takes the child directly to his client. The doctor determines he’s healthy and as a result, the Mandalorian is awarded a hefty amount of Beskar. Still, he has some qualms about leaving the child there. He asks the client what he plans to do with it. The man doesn’t say. He does say, however, that the Beskar is enough to make him a brand new suit of armor. Finding the steel is, in fact, easier than finding the actual Mandalorians. Our protagonist says nothing.
He heads straight underground, where the rest of the Mandalorians stay hidden. He shows to Beskar bounty to the Armorer and the other Mandalorians linger close behind. One of them notices the Beskar was cast in an Imperial smelter, meaning our protagonist was working for the Empire. It was the Empire that caused the Mandalorians to stay hidden and only go above ground one at a time. The two fight and the Armorer stops it.
She asks the Mandalorian what caused the damage to his armor and he explains that an enemy helped him, because he didn’t know he was an enemy at the time. Again, viewers see he feels a pang of guilt. He asks the Armorer to reserve some for the foundlings.
The Mandalorian gets a new suit of armor and whistling birds for his bounty
The Mandalorian heads aboveground with his shiny new suit and all eyes are on him. Turns out, every single bounty hunter had a tracking fob for the child. Needless to say, they’re a little bitter. The Mandalorian sits down with Greef Karga, who says he is celebrating his success, because, in a way, that makes him successful. He even got a little Beskar of his own, tucked away in his pocket.
Already, the Mandalorian asks for his next job. The man is surprised but gives him another tracker. Again, the Mandalorian asks what they’re going to do with the child. The man says it’s against the code to ask, so he didn’t. The Mandalorian heads for his ship.
Just as he’s about to take off, he notices the control where the child took the ball off. He rolls the ball in his hand and pushes forward. Then, he turns it all off. He decides to go back for the kid.
The Mandalorian goes back to save the child
The Mandalorian heads back to the hideout of his client, where he finds the child’s container in the garbage. That’s the last straw. He enters the building, kills a few stormtroopers, and finds the child asleep with “the doctor.” He asks the doctor what he did with the child and he reassures the Mandalorian that he didn’t do anything.
He’s been keeping him alive all this time. The Mandalorian leaves him cowering in the corner while he takes the child out. Again he’s confronted by stormtroopers and he uses his whistling birds to escape. However, as soon as he exits the building, the other bounty hunters’ fobs start beeping. They’re all leading towards the Mandalorian.
The other bounty hunters and Greef Karga surround him, asking for the bounty, but the Mandalorian doesn’t give the child up. He jumps into a speeder and starts firing. Just when it looks like he’s trapped, the other Mandalorians appear. The ward off all the bounty hunters, allowing our protagonist to run to his ship with the child.
Greef Karga is in the Mandalorian’s ship, waiting for him. The Mandalorian shoots him and he thinks he’s dead, but the Beskar in the man’s pocket stopped the blast. Still, the Mandalorian manages to escape with the child, even letting him play with the ball as they head into space.
