Several injured after ATV plows through music festival crowd near Princeton - CityNews Vancouver

PRINCETON (NEWS 1130) — Several people are recovering from injuries after a man drove a side-by-side ATV through a crowd at the Curiosity Music Festival north of Princeton over the weekend.

In a Facebook post, Jessica Laplante writes she was celebrating with her friends when an ATV plowed through the crowd, hitting her, her boyfriend Dustin Stoelwinder and several others before crashing into the stage.

While Laplante writes she didn’t break any bones, Stoelwinder apparently fractured his neck.

“He has to stay the night in the hospital and go for an MRI scan in the morning. Please send healing… this event has really traumatized both of us,” she writes.

Another festival-goer told local news website Castanet the incident was “horrific,” and described the scene as “like a war zone.”

Castanet reports police are considering charges of robbery and assault with a weapon after a man, who was being treated by medical staff at the festival, apparently took an ATV and drove through the crowd. Drugs and or alcohol is believed to have been a factor.

Some who were hurt were apparently treated at a hospital in Merritt.

NEWS 1130 has reached out to festival organizers and police but, so far, there has been no response.
