NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. - An actress known for appearing in the 1990s comedy, “Clueless,” is facing a domestic battery charge in Florida.
A Pasco County Sheriff's Office report says 52-year-old Stacey Dash was arrested Sunday night.
The report says Dash got into a verbal argument with a man at a New Port Richey apartment. Deputies say she pushed the man and slapped his face. Investigators noted that the man sustained red scratch marks on his left arm.
The reports say no alcohol or drugs were involved.
Dash was released on bail Monday morning. Jail records didn't list an attorney.
Besides portraying Dionne Davenport in “Clueless,” Dash has film and television credits beginning in the 1980s. She also worked as a Fox News commentator from 2014 to 2017.

Ivanka, U.S. President Donald Trump’s daughter and adviser, tweeted a photo of herself and husband Jared Kushner with their three kids, expressing their family’s love of the science fiction franchise on Sunday.
“The Force is strong in my family,” she captioned the image, which featured one of her kids in a Stormtrooper costume.
Hamill, who is famed for playing Jedi hero Luke Skywalker in the movies, responded by quoting the tweet, and writing: “You misspelled Fraud. #GoForceYourself.”
The 68-year-old actor has often criticized Ivanka’s father on Twitter, and even backed a campaign to buy the social media website and ban the president from the platform.
His Twitter attack on Ivanka and her family did not go down well with some of his followers, however, with some unhappy he had taken his frustration with the Trumps out on children expressing their love for the films.
“Goddamn, Mr. Hamill. A kid in a Star Wars costume isn’t political. People are allowed to like Star Wars,” one angry fan wrote. “Nice. Picking on a kid. High class.”

BANGKOK - Their story gripped the world: determined divers racing against time and water to rescue 12 boys and their soccer coach trapped for more than two weeks in a flooded cave deep inside a northern Thai mountain.
The ordeal in late June and early July 2018 had barely ended when filmmakers began their own race to get the nail-biting drama onto cinema screens. The first of those projects will premiere this weekend, when director Tom Waller's “The Cave” shows at the Busan Film Festival in South Korea.
The film was shot over three months earlier this year and has been in post-production since then. The 45-year-old Thai-born, British-raised filmmaker said the epic tale of the Wild Boars football team was a story he simply had to tell.
The boys and their coach entered the Tham Luang cave complex after soccer practice and were quickly trapped inside by rising floodwater. Despite a massive search, the boys spent nine nights lost in the cave before they were spotted by an expert diver. It would take another eight days before they were all safe.
Waller was visiting his father in Ireland when he saw television news accounts of the drama.
“I thought this would be an amazing story to tell on screen,” he said.
But putting the parts together after their dramatic rescue proved to be a challenge. Thailand's government, at the time led by a military junta, became very protective of the story, barring unauthorized access to the Wild Boars or their parents. Waller often feared his production might be shut down.
His good fortune was that the events at the Tham Luang cave in Chiang Rai province had multiple angles and interesting characters. Especially compelling were the stories of the rescuers, particularly the expert divers who rallied from around the world. He decided to make a film “about the volunteer spirit of the rescue.”
Other people proposed telling the story from the point of view of the boys, and Netflix nailed down those rights in a deal brokered by the Thai government.
“I took the view that this was going to be a story about the people we didn't know about, about the cave divers who came all the way from across the planet,” Waller said. “They literally dropped everything to go and help, and I just felt that that was more of an exciting story to tell, to find out how these boys were brought out and what they did to get them out.”
Waller even had more than a dozen key rescue personnel play themselves.
Waller said they were natural actors, blending in almost seamlessly with the professionals around them, and helped by the accuracy of the settings and the production's close attention to detail.
“What you are really doing is asking them to remember what they did and to show us what they were doing and what they were feeling like at the time,” he said. “That was really very emotional for some of them because it was absolutely real.”
Waller said his film is likely to have a visceral effect on some viewers, evoking a measure of claustrophobia.
“It's a sort of immersive experience with the sound of the environment, you know, the fact that is very dark and murky, that the water is not clear,” he said.
“In Hollywood films, when they do underwater scenes, everything is crystal clear. But in this film it's murky and I think that's the big difference. This film lends itself to being more of a realistic portrayal of what happened.”
Some scenes were filmed on location at the entrance to the actual Tham Luang cave, but most of the action was shot elsewhere, Waller said.
“We filmed in real water caves that were flooded, all year-round,” he said. “It is very authentic in terms of real caves, real flooded tunnels, real divers and real creepy-crawlies in there. So it was no mean feat trying to get a crew to go and film in these caves.”
“The Cave” goes on general release in Thailand on Nov. 28.

Busbee — whose real name was Michael James Ryan — worked with a slew of top artists in country music, including Maren Morris, Garth Brooks, Lady Antebellum and Keith Urban.
Busbee, a Grammy-nominated songwriter and producer, has died. He was 43.
News of his death surfaced Sunday night. According to several reports, he had been diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer, a few months ago.
Busbee — whose real name was Michael James Ryan — worked with a slew of top artists in country music, including Maren Morris, Garth Brooks, Lady Antebellum and Keith Urban. He co-wrote Florida Georgia Line's "H.O.L.Y." and multiple songs on Urban's album Ripcord and Morris' debut album, Hero.
Busbee had a worldwide publishing deal with Warner Chappell Music, which released a statement Sunday night on his passing: "Our hearts are broken by the loss of our beautiful friend busbee. He was an extraordinary human being whose generosity, spirituality and humor inspired everyone around him. An amazingly gifted songwriter, he used his talent, his music, and his love to break down boundaries and bring people together. He left us far too soon. Our deepest condolences go to his wonderful family and all his many friends. We love you."
In a 2016 profile by Rolling Stone Country, Busbee said he started out in the jazz world — studying he genre at William Paterson University in Wayne, New Jersey — before switching to country.
"I was totally on the jazz trajectory," he said. "That was my paradigm for all things music."
Busbee made the switch to country on the recommendation of a fellow songwriter, but also wound up working with a slew of pop artists, including Kelly Clarkson, Pink, Shakira and Christina Aguilera.
"When I made jazz, it was like, 'Here's a canvas, it’s 20 feet by 20 feet, you can use any brush, any kind of paint, any color, anything — even not paint!'" he said. "With country and pop, it's like, 'Here's one brush, one color, and a six inch by six inch canvas: make me feel something.' I love the challenge of doing that."
In his interview with Rolling Stone Country, Busbee also marveled at being able to work his dream job. "I'm from California and used to play jazz trombone," he said. "I woke up a certain amount of years later, and I have an amazing wife and two beautiful girls, and I get to write songs for a living? I’m like, whose life did I hijack?"
On Sunday, Morris and other in the music industry took to social media to pay tribute to Busbee.
"This just doesn’t seem fair," Morris wrote. "I will always love you and the songs and albums I was lucky to make with you, Busbee. Rest well, my sweet friend."

Blake Shelton tweeted: "I absolutely can't accept the loss of mine and Gwen [Stefani]'s friend Michael (Busbee)..Too much to say for social media. Too much pain and unfairness period. I guess sometimes you gotta dig extra EXTRA deep for peace to continue to have faith. And I will because Michael ALWAYS had faith."

Added Maria Egan, head of creative at Pulse Music Publishing: "Our friend, creator and songwriter advocate @busbee sadly passed away this weekend. A talent as huge as his heart, a deeply spiritual man and devoted husband and father. Everyone that knew him, even just as business colleagues, feels like a good friend has been lost today – they don't make many like this. He will be deeply missed by us and his beautiful family."
Added Carly Pearce, who collaborated with Busbee on "Every Little Thing": "I sang 'every little thing' tonight through broken tears with thousands of voices and cell phone lights in the air, because I asked them to raise them up high so you could see them shining from heaven. What a beautiful sight it was. You gave my music a place in this world. I’ll cherish the 2 albums, songs, talks, laughs & memories we shared over the years. My heart is broken, but the legacy of your talents and your heart will live on in all of the artists and people you touched. I love you, Busbee."

Six titles have been shortlisted for the 2019 Scotiabank Giller Prize. The $100,000 prize is the richest Canadian literary award and annually recognizes the country's best fiction.
The 2019 shortlist features three authors previously nominated for the Giller Prize. Ohlin was shortlisted in 2012 for the novel Inside, Crummey was shortlisted in 2001 for the novel River Thieves and Bezmozgis was nominated in 2011 for The Free Worldand again in 2014 for The Betrayers.
Williams and Coles are both nominated for their debut novels. Williams is an accomplished poet, having been nominated for the Griffin Poetry Prize for the collection Personals.
117 titles were submitted for consideration this year.
Keep reading to learn more about the shortlisted books and authors.
Immigrant City is a short story collection by David Bezmozgis. (HarperCollins Canada)
In Bezmozgis's short story collection Immigrant City, a wannabe boxer finds work as a security guard in the Toronto suburbs, a father and daughter end up in a strange rendition of his immigrant childhood and a young man unwittingly makes contact with the underworld.
"In this wise and assured collection, Bezmozgis has reimagined immigrant lives not simply as marked by displacement and discontinuity, but of immigration as a shared and binding experience that crosses the boundaries of race, nationality, occupation, class, politics and even past betrayals, to serve as a point of connection and compassion between Bezmozgis's characters," the jury said in a statement.
Born in Latvia, Bezmozgis lives in Toronto. He is also the author of the novel The Betrayersand The Free World.
Megan Gail Coles's debut novel Small Game Hunting At The Local Coward Gun Club is out now. (Playwrights Canada Press, House of Anansi Press)
Small Game Hunting at the Local Coward Gun Club, Megan Gail Coles's debut novel, revolves around a cast of flawed characters who are implicated in each other's hopes, dreams and pains as they try to survive harsh economic times in the province.
"This is not your traditional Newfoundland novel of social isolation. Instead, Megan Gail Coles portrays the harsh existence of the islanders'as emblematic of the human condition itself. The characters' lives unfold around a fine restaurant. They are physically and emotionally crippled by their society's devastating inequalities, the women psychologically maimed by repeated sexual assault. Coles's narrator storms against the status quo in a kinetic novel that dazzles, challenges and exhilarates," the jury said in a statement.
Michael Crummey's new book is called The Innocents. (Doubleday Canada, Holly Hogan)
In Crummey's novel The Innocents, a young brother and sister live in isolation in Newfoundland, surviving alone on the bits of knowledge their parents left behind. Their loyalty to one another is the reason they are able to persist through storms and illness, but their relationship is tested as they grow older.
"Written in a language that is at the same time fresh and ancient, Michael Crummey's The Innocentsis a (mis)creation myth that demands a reconsideration of what we think we know about love and death, family and loneliness, oblivion and wisdom, horror and beauty, bodies and knowledge, violence and desire," the jury said in a statement.
Crummey is from Newfoundland. His other books include the novels Sweetlandand Galore.
Dual Citizens is a novel by Alix Ohlin. (House of Anansi Press)
In Ohlin's novel Dual Citizens, Lark Brossard is a supporting character in the lives of her artistically talented loved ones: her sister Robin is a wild and brilliant pianist, while her sometime lover Lawrence is a famous filmmaker. When Lawrence tells her he doesn't want children, Lark re-examines her life and takes control of her story.
"Alix Ohlin's novel, true to its title, quietly refutes monolithic tenets that regard identity as something fixed and singular. Dividing its narrative between Canada and the U.S., the urban and the wild, solitude and solidarity, creativity and caregiving, Dual Citizens is a long-term sororal love story and affecting double-portrait of female self-actualization untethered from established paradigms of ambition" the jury said in a statement.
Ohlin is the chair of the creative writing program at the University of British Columbia. She is also the author of the novel Insideand the short story collection Signs and Wonders.
Steven Price is the author of Lampedusa. (McClelland & Stewart)
In Price's novel Lampedusa, the last prince of Lampedusa, Giuseppe Tomasi, faces the end of his life in 1950s Sicily. He spends his final days labouring over the manuscript of his novel, The Leopard, which he believes will be his lasting legacy.
"Lampedusa is a fairy tale about a dying prince, the last of his line, the real-life Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa, author of the beloved Italian novel The Leopard. Steven Price powerfully imagines Tomasi's final days as the ailing author struggles to complete and publish his treasured manuscript. Set in a post war Palermo of bombed-out buildings and ruined palazzos, the novel contemplates what values are worth retaining in life and in art," the jury said in a statement.
Price lives in Victoria. He is also the author of the novel By Gaslight.
Ian Williams is the author of Reproduction. (Sinisa Jolic/CBC)
Reproduction is about Felicia and her teenage son Army. After they move into a basement apartment, they bond with the house's owner and his two children. But strange gifts from Army's wealthy, absent father begin to arrive at their doorstep, inviting new tensions into the makeshift family's lives.
"Reproduction is many things at once. It's an engrossing story of disparate people brought together and also a masterful unfolding of unexpected connections and collisions between and across lives otherwise separated by race, class, gender and geography. It's a pointed and often playful plotting out of individual and shared stories in the close spaces of hospital rooms, garages, mansions and apartments, and a symphonic performance of resonant and dissonant voices, those of persons wanting to impress persuade, deny, or beguile others, and always trying again," the jury said in a statement.
Williams is a poet, who has previously been shortlisted for the Griffin Poetry Prize for his collection Personals.

Kanye West has been holding weekly Sunday Services since January of this year, with the Wests, Kardashians, and Jenners and friends attending in droves.
Kanye West Sunday Service| Rich Fury/Getty Images for Coachella
Since its start, the Sunday Services have caused both fascination and confusion; it’s as though the world is witnessing West’s continuing musical transformation, and no one wants to miss a minute of it. The influencer has been influenced.
West is evolving, but does this evolution mean he’s giving up rap music to exclusively record gospel music? Find out what we know.
What is Kanye’s Sunday Service?
At one of his Sunday Services, the rapper sings, preaches, teaches, admonishes, and exhorts the faithful throng. A spectacular choir and band offer up praises as well. The service itself seems to move from week to week. One week it’s in Wyoming, another week in Chicago, this past week it was in Queens, NYC, and it’s coming to a city near you.
West explained to David Letterman on the Netflix show My Next Guest, “It’s just an idea that we had to open up our hearts and make music that we felt was as pure and as positive as possible. And just do it for an hour every Sunday and have something where people can come together and feel good with their families.”
Kim Kardashian explained it this way to Elle, “[The church], it’s honestly more like a healing experience for my husband. It’s just music; there’s no sermon. It’s definitely something he believes in—Jesus—and there’s a Christian vibe. But there’s no preaching. It’s just a very spiritual Christian experience.”
Can regular people like you and me attend?
Up to now, it seems it’s been mostly a celebrity-attended event, with the immediate families and friends of the Wests, Kardashians, Jenners, etc., in attendance.
Chance the Rapper explained on Lights Out with David Spade that the services are “Christ-based…sick and dope. I wouldn’t even say churchy.”
When asked by Spade what he needed to do to attend, Chance replied, “You have to know somebody.”
However, the Sept. 27th Detroit Service (held on a Friday, but whatever!) ‘sold’ free tickets on Ticketmaster. Perhaps, then going forward, West will be opening the services up to the public through forums such as online ticket agencies.
Is Kanye West Really Only Recording Gospel Music From Now On?
So, will West be focusing exclusively on gospel music?
While hosting a listening party in Chicago ahead of the release of his new album, Jesus Is King, West apparently announced he would no longer be making secular music.
Kanye also announced that he is no longer making secular music. Only Gospel from here on out.
FakeShoreDrive‘s Andrew Barber, a Chicago-based music blogger, was at the event when the Jesus Walks singer made the stunning proclamation.
“Kanye also announced that he is no longer making secular music. Only Gospel from here on out,” he tweeted. Given West’s current focus on spirituality and God, it could be true.

Miley Cyrus spent this weekend doing yoga and creating #content on Instagram, and in between a ton of workout videos and some cute pics of her pets, she posted what appears to be a low-key shady post about one of her exes.
"Happy Sunday from me & 2 stinky dogs," she wrote in the post. "Waking up surrounded by animals is my favorite way to start a morning. I am immediately reminded to LOVE without conditions.... the best part about animals is that they are careless about the details. They live by the golden rule ... Love & Be Loved. Nothing in between. No questions regarding wealth, career, talents, race, age, sex ....They love back 100X .... all they ask for is to be cared for in exchange for loyalty, reliability, and faithfulness. (reminds me of someone)."
Instagram
Kay, so Miley's clearly saying that she will love back in exchange for "loyalty, reliability, and faithfulness" and everyone is naturally reading TF into it and assuming she's calling out either Liam Hemsworth or Kaitlynn Carter. But considering Miley and Kaitlynn ended things on super good terms, it seems unlikely she's referencing her here...which leaves Liam.
This longtime couple announced their separation over a month ago after less than a year of marriage, and there have been a ton of rumors and speculation about the reason for their split. But for what it's worth, Miley wrote a lengthy post claiming she 100 percent was not unfaithful in the marriage, ahem.

Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin are currently in South Carolina for their wedding, and last night the couple celebrated their rehearsal dinner at the Montage in Palmetto Bluffs (which also happens to be their ceremony venue)! And while obviously this event was private, Justin and Hailey were spotted by extremely excited hotel guests chilling out on their boat:
And then some random dude spotted Justin "humping" Hailey and helpfully narrated the moment by repeatedly saying "he's humpin' her!" Cool.
Anyway, according to an E! News source "Guests arrived by boat to the rehearsal dinner on the Palmetto property. There were several water taxis that took guests over around 6:30 p.m. The dinner was on the edge of the water and was outdoors. There were many string lights hanging and lit candles. Everyone was seated at long tables and the dĂšcor was very chic and white."
But wait, there's more! "There were waiters standing greeting guests with champagne as they arrived," the source continued, adding that Justin and Hailey joined the party slightly late and made quite an entrance. "Everyone cheered for them and they looked really happy to see everyone. Hailey and Justin both could not stop smiling."
Celeb guests apparently included Joan Smalls, Kendall Jenner, Laura and Carl Lentz, Scooter Braun, and Justine Skye, who will also be at the couple's ceremony today. EXCITING TIMES (for everyone except Jelena fans).
Mama June's family hasn't given up on her ... despite the fact she seems done with them. The fam wants to grab just a couple minutes with the reality star in what can best be described as a Hail Mary.
Sources close to June tell us her sister, Joanne, has spearheaded an effort to get June away from her BF, Geno. The next step, they say, is getting June professional help she desperately needs for her addiction issues. They know ... unless Geno's out of the picture, it's all futile.
TMZ.com
June and Geno were in court in Alabama Wednesday when Geno lashed out, shouting slurs at photogs. We spotted a film crew documenting Joanne's efforts to help her sister.
In our video from the parking lot, Geno hugs a woman -- that's Joanne -- and you see her follow June and Geno go to their car ... as she begs June to grab lunch and talk. It's all to no avail because June slams the door in Joanne's face.
BACKGRID
Joanne was also at the courthouse earlier this month in hopes of seeing June, but June was a no-show.
We're told Joanne's also blown up June's phone, trying to open a dialogue. Again, she got nothing.
WE tv
TMZ broke the story ... June's daughters and Joanne staged an intervention earlier this year with the help of WE tv ... but she refused. Honey Boo Boo doesn't want anything to do with June unless and until she dumps Geno.
When Kanye West hosts an event, the pure unpredictability and uniqueness of it will bring out the masses for a truly one-of-a-kind experience. Following Sunday Service at The Greater Allen Cathedral in Queens, West and company headed to Washington Heights on Sunday night (Sept. 29) to host the final listening of his Jesus Is King: A Kanye West Experience mini-tour at the archaic United Palace Theatre.
Unfortunately, as Kim Kardashian promised, Sunday came and went without the release of Jesus Is King, which has West's fans in a state of panic. Kanye also didn't provide any insight to a possible release date during the Experience, but did run through the brisk 10-track less than half-hour project for the 1,000 some odd fans packed under the Palace's golden ceilings and sacred watchful eye.
"New York City is definitely one of my hometowns," he told the crowd. "I wasn't fully saved during Coachella. I came to know the truth and joy of Jesus. This album is an expression of the gospel." West moved right into fulfilling album opener "Beauty From Ashes," where he seems to shed his ego. "I come to you empty, free of my pride," he pleads.
Track No. 2, "Follow God," features some of West's most passionate rapping on the entire album. To fully bring the word of the gospel to NYC, Kanye instructed fans to fill the aisles and stand up, which temporarily created a more raucous environment, as a riled up mosh pit of fans joined him on stage, but were quickly told to move back once West was notified that the stage might collapse. Daughter North and son Saint kept the party going by dancing on stage for much of the night, as Kim Kardashian filmed the adorable Kodak moments from off to the side.
The electronic "On God" immediately jumped out as a standout cut from West's latest body of work. Kanye chimed in that he actually crafted the track with emerging rapper-producer Pi'erre Bourne, as Yeezy confidently boasts that he's "the greatest artist resting or alive" on the opening verse. Sadly, Young Thug isn't heard on the record, as previously rumored. At this point, the album's artwork was debuted on the projection screen. Jesus Is King's cover art depicts a biblical happening that goes along with the themes of the Sunday Service merchandise debuted this weekend.
A notable change heard Sunday was the re-recording of "Selah," one of the few tracks featuring thunderous drums on the project. Lines such as "everyone want Yandhi, my cousins mad at my auntie" have questionably been flipped to "everyone wanted Yandhi, but Jesus did the laundry." The castrated "New Body" has also been added back onto the album's fluid track list, but the Ty Dolla $ign-assisted track is still missing a new verse courtesy of Nicki Minaj.
To put a few rumors circulating online to rest, the police did not shut down West's listening session. It looked as if officers calmly strolled down the aisle to let him know of his 10 p.m. curfew, but Yeezy would finish off the Experience on a high-note with album closer "Use This Gospel." West reunited Clipse to blend worlds with Kenny G on the saxophone, which taps into West's brilliance as a collaborator, to make for one of the sharpest tracks on the project.
Overall, Jesus Is King seems to be unfinished, and it wouldn't be surprising to see the project pushed back a few weeks. Kanye flashes his greatness at times, but fails to completely flesh out his thoughts on others. He could also be waiting on a few collaborators to elevate the effort and finally bring it across the finish line. West makes sparse use of hard-hitting 808 drums on JIK, a stark change compared to a mainstay on previous Ye LPs.
The Chicago native also previewed portions of both his forthcoming documentary and IMAX film. The doc follows West in his travels across the globe and hones in on his time spent with James Turrell at his Arizona Roden Crater installation. The IMAX film is slated to hit theaters across the country on Oct. 25.

Ruby Rose is about to be a hero to little kids watching her as Batwoman on The CW. Even more than an empowering hero, Rose gets to play an openly gay heroine, the sort of role model she didn’t get to see on television. As a kid, Rose appreciated what was available, which included Lucy Lawless as Xena: Warrior Princess.

After the Television Critics Association for Batwoman this summer, Rose spoke with reporters further about being a role model, and the role models she had growing up. Batwoman premieres Sunday, October 6 at 8 p.m. on The CW right before Supergirl, and we’ll have more with Rose and the stars of Batwoman this week on Showbiz Cheat Sheet.
Why Xena: Warrior Princess was Ruby Rose’s hero
Sure, Xena kicked butt but that wasn’t really why Ruby Rose loved her. As a young gay woman, there were many fan theories about Xena’s relationship with Gabrielle (Renee O’Connor).

“The closest I had was Xena: Warrior Princess,” Rose said. “You just had to assume that there was something with Gabrielle. It was up to the imagination but I was convinced and that definitely was probably the only thing I had on television that represented how I felt and kind of empowered me. I don’t think anything else until probably The L Word which was a different show entirely.”
‘Batwoman’ can be someone’s ‘Xena’ in 2019
Ruby Rose wishes there had been a character like she plays on Batwoman when she was little. Kate Kane (Rose) is openly gay and heroic enough to save Gotham City.

“It’s telling a story that I wish was on television when I was a kid,” Rose said. “I believe there are going to be people that this changes their life.”
And if Batwoman is not for you, that’s okay.
“I think there’s definitely someone for everyone in the show, but if you don’t find yourself in this show, that’s probably because there’s plenty of shows for you already out there,” Rose said.
We still need more representation on television
The landscape of television is far more diverse than it was when Ruby Rose was watching Xena, but it’s still predominantly heteronormative. Batwoman adds one more show to shift the balance.

“It’s more about representation and diversity and acknowledging that there are more than just one kind of person who exists in the world that then gets displayed on television or media or film,” Rose said. “I think that’s why GLAAD is such a fantastic organization because they have been monitoring like we don’t have representation in these areas and we need it.”
Ruby Rose has input into ‘Batwoman’
Showrunner Caroline Dries and producer Sarah Schechter are listening to Ruby Rose’s input on Kate Kane and Batwoman. Rose has confidence in them too.

“If I ever felt like there was something that I was seeing in the script or not seeing in the script or wanted more of or wanted less of, especially when it comes to Kate specifically, I think things have changed, writing have made adjustments. I’ve asked Caroline if we can do it a different way. We are collaborative in that way but as far as the show as a whole, of course if I felt like there was something I wanted to say, obviously I would but so far they’re doing an excellent job so I don’t feel like I need to put an extra cook in the kitchen.”

NEW YORK - The DreamWorks animated adventure “Abominable” topped the box office with $20.9 million in ticket sales over the weekend, according to studio estimates Sunday, while the Renee Zellweger-led Judy Garland tale “Judy” got off to a strong start.
“Abominable,” the weekend's sole new wide release, is a co-production between Universal's DreamWorks and the Shanghai-based Pearl Studios. So the $75 million-film's performance when it opens Tuesday in China will be vital to its worldwide success.
The film, written and directed by Jill Culton, is about a Shanghai teenager (Chloe Bennet) who discovers a lost yeti on the roof of her apartment building. She and a pair of friends traverse China to return the creature, whom they name “Everest,” home to the Himalayas. “Abominable” garnered positive reviews (80% on Rotten Tomatoes) and a warm reception from audiences (an A CinemaScore) eager for a family friendly option.
“Abominable” marks the seventh No. 1 film this year for Universal, or eight if you count “Downton Abbey,” released by the studio's specialty label, Focus Features. “Downton,” last week's top film, slid to second with $14.5 million. The big-screen encore for the British series has already grossed $107.1 million worldwide.
That gives Universal the most No.1 movies of any studio this year, passing Disney. Though Disney still commands an overwhelming market share of about 34%, Universal has had a strong year with a varied slate (“Us,” ”Hobbs & Shaw,“ ”Yesterday“). The studio accounts for all three of the year's No.1-debuting original releases: ”Abominable,“ ”Us“ and ”Good Boys.“
“It's not going to be all superheroes all the time. That's not necessarily going to be everyone's cup of tea,” said Jim Orr, distribution chief for Universal. “When we have films like 'Abominable,' 'Yesterday,' 'Good Boys,' 'Us,' we're bringing a lot of different people into the theatres and that's good for everyone. That's good for the entire industry.”
It's been a good run for original films lately at the box office. The stripper drama “Hustlers,” from STX Entertainment, continued to hold strong with $11.5 million in its third week, dropping just 32%. It's now made $80.6 million altogether. “Hustlers” potentially got a boost by having its star - Jennifer Lopez - announced this week as next year's Super Bowl halftime act, along with Shakira.
And one of the weekend's biggest successes was “Judy,” which opened with $3.1 million on 461 screens. The film, directed by Rupert Goold, is about the final act of Judy Garland's life, when the “Wizard of Oz” star was plagued by drug addiction, health woes and financial troubles. The film's main draw is Zellweger's lauded performance as Garland, which has made her the best-actress Oscar front-runner.
Roadside Attractions rolled out “Judy” with a rare medium-sized platform release that the distributor has found success with before on films like 2012's “Mud” and this summer's “The Peanut Butter Falcon.” The latter is a Mark Twain-inspired adventure starring Zack Gottsagen, who has Down syndrome, and Shia LaBeouf. This weekend, it became the year's top indie platform release with $18.1 million over eight weeks, passing A24's “The Farewell.”
Howard Cohen, co-president and co-founder of Roadside, says the 16-year-old distributor has succeeded by seeking populist indies. (“Judy,” for which the audience was almost 80% over the age of 35, will expand nationwide further next week.)
“It's a very challenging time in film distribution for indies and everyone but Disney, maybe,” said Cohen. “We like movies that can draw an audience, that are crowd-pleasers. In a challenging environment, you have to give people a really strong reason to leave their house.”
“The movies have to be properly released and promoted,” he added. “But I think the audience is still there.”
The two-and-half-month break from superheroes atop the box office is expected to end next weekend when Warner Bros.' “Joker” hits theatres, along with Fox Searchlight's “Lucy in the Sky” and Netflix's “Dolemite Is My Name.”
Estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at U.S. and Canadian theatres, according to Comscore. Where available, the latest international numbers for Friday through Sunday are also included.
1. “Abominable,” $20.9 million ($8.8 million international).
2. “Downton Abbey,” $14.5 million ($10 million international).
3. “Hustlers,” $11.5 million ($3 million international).
4. “It Chapter Two,” $10.4 million ($11 million international).
5. “Ad Astra,” $10.1 million ($18 million international).
6. “Rambo: Last Blood,” $8.6 million ($9.5 million international).
7. “Judy,” $3.1 million.
8. “Good Boys,” $2 million ($1.5 million international).
9. “The Lion King,” $1.6 million ($3.7 million international).
10. “Angel Has Fallen,” $1.5 million ($1.5 million international).

Daniel Craig was “really quite drunk” as he celebrated the end of filming his final James Bond’s film, No Time To Die.
The star is expected to step down from the iconic role of 007 after starring in five movies in the hit spy franchise, beginning with his debut in 2006’s Casino Royale, and as the cast and crew of the latest caper gathered to say goodbye as filming wrapped in Matera, southern Italy over the weekend (28-29Sep19), the 51-year-old actor paused proceedings to honour everyone.
“I just want to say, and I am really quite drunk now so I won’t go on for long, this has been the best, most wonderful experience I have ever had,” Daniel gushed in video footage obtained by Britain’s Sunday Mirror newspaper. “You have all done the most amazing job. I could not be more proud to work with every single one of you.
“I would like to thank you for this evening, for Barbara (Broccoli, producer) for putting it on. Thank goodness, we did this tonight.”
Craig struggled through filming after injuring his ankle during filming in Jamaica and undergoing surgery.
No Time To Die is slated for release next April.

While Meghan Marklestayed behind in South Africa with babyArchie Harrison as husband Prince Harry embarked on solo trips elsewhere in Africa, she made an unexpected appearance alongside him in Malawi. On Sunday, the Duke of Sussex met with students and alumni supported by U.K. scholarships from Campaign for Female Education at the Nalikule College of Education. They were seated in front of a TV screen.
"I know there's somebody else you'd far rather hear from than me, hopefully if technology doesn't fail us you may see somebody on the screen," Harry told the students.
Meghan suddenly appeared on the TV via Skypa, prompting the women to burst out into song.
"I'm so happy to be with you, is there a delay?" Meghan asked.
"No, it's great keep going," Harry replied.
"We're just so proud as president and vice-president of the Queen's Commonwealth Trust that we can support you in everything that you do because we cannot begin to express how valuable and vital that work is, we're just incredibly proud to be part of it," Meghan said. "I wish I could be with you, we're in South Africa right now Archie's taking a nap. I'm with you in spirit."
"Today, The Duchess of Sussex linked up with Nalikule College, Lilongwe, to join the Duke and an amazing group of women who attended school through the help @camfedand its 20-year-old alumni network CAMA," read a post on Meghan and Harry's Instagram page. "These CAMA women are part of a major network across Africa, which has 140,000 members and 17,500 in Malawi alone. These positive female role models, leaders and entrepreneurs, are working to lift their communities out of poverty. Money distributed by CAMA goes directly to each of their alumni, who then use their own resources to support another three children to attend school."
"Along with support from the @Queens_Commonwealth_Trust, CAMA and @camfed are changing the lives of many young girls though education and empowerment," the post read. "As President and Vice President of the QCT, The Duke and Duchess both believe in the power of education to empower young girls, and change society as a whole."
Meghan and Harry landed in South Africa last week to begin their first Royal tour with four-month-old Archie. In recent days, the duke has traveled on his own to Botswana, Angola and Malawi.
During his travels, the duke has followed in his late motherPrincess Diana's footsteps. In Angola, he walked down a street that was the site of a minefield the Princess Diana of Wales famously visited in 1997, visited the Princess Diana Orthopaedic Centre that his mother had visited and which was later renamed after her, and met with 35-year-old land mine victim Sandra Thijika, who had met Diana when she was a teenager.
Also in Angola, Harry visited a facility run by the Born Free to Shine project, which teaches about preventing HIV transmission from mothers to babies, and met with pregnant moms and HIV+ teens, and visited the neonatal ward. In 1987, Diana made headlines when she shook hands without gloves with an HIV-positive man at a London hospital, at a time when many mistakenly thought HIV and AIDS could be transmitted by touch.
On Monday, Harry is set to visit Malawai's Liwonde National Park and join an anti-poaching patrol watch an anti-poaching demonstration by local rangers and U.K. troops. On Tuesday, he is scheduled to visit the Mauwa Health Centre and other health facilities before rejoining his family in South Africa to wrap up their tour.
