Robert De Niro has said he hopes President Donald Trump gets impeached following his communications with the Ukranian president.

The 45th president of the United States is currently being investigated by the Democratic Party, and the actor has admitted he thinks that Trump is a ‘low life’.

‘I hope he gets impeached, it has to be followed through,’ the outspoken actor said.

‘He’s such a low life. He taints everybody around him.’

Speaking to Variety, he added: ‘It’s disgraceful with this guy.

‘He has no centre, no ethics, no morals. He’s amoral, immoral.’

This isn’t the first time that Robert has expressed his dislike for the US president, as previously compared him to Hitler and Mussolini in January, and in April, he even referred to him as a ‘dumbbell’ and ‘wannabe gangster’.

Speaking on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, he said: ‘People like the outlaw type thing except we have a wannabe gangster in the White House now.

‘Even gangsters have morals and they have ethics. They have a code and you know when you give your somebody your word, it’s your word because it’s all you have is your word.

‘This guy he doesn’t even know what that means.’

Trump in return blasted Robert on Twitter in June 2018, calling him a ‘very low IQ individual’.

‘I watched him last night and truly believe he may be “punch-drunk,”’ he wrote.

‘I guess he doesn’t realise the economy is the best it’s ever been with employment being at an all time high, and many companies pouring back into our country,’ the President added.

‘Wake up Punchy!’

A few days prior to this outburst, Robert had criticised the president in a speech at the Tony Awards 2018, saying: ‘I’m gonna say one thing: “f*** Trump”.

‘It’s no longer “down with Trump”. It’s “f*** Trump.”’

In the meantime, the 76-year-old is gearing up for the release of his latest movie, The Irishman, in which he stars as Frank Sheeran, a former mob hitman and World War II vet who reflects on his past as an old man.

The film is expected to be released on 27 November on Netflix.
